Career Milestones

(Data) Scientist with experience in the space, financial, oil and gas, and commercial industry. By studying, working, and living in various countries, I obtained also a lot of international experience. I am scientifically-minded and always eager to learn more.

January 2021 - now

PhD astronomy at University of Leiden

Using machine learning to image the low frequency universe at the highest resolution.

February 2019-December 2020

Data scientist at Matrixian Group

I worked on several projects in groups and alone. To mention a few: 

  • A global address checker for big Dutch package deliver companies.

  • A model for predicting pre-payment for mortgages for a bank. 

  • A home value prediction model.

  • Determine where to place green rooftops and plant trees with open data.

Astronomy intern at the European Space Agency

Mechanical Engineer at EPPM

Summer intern for EPPM in Tunis Tunisia). Here I did stress calculations for lifting lugs.

Advanced Master Space Studies

I personally focused on the technical and scientific track, where I learned much about the different scientific sides of the space field, such as space biology, astronomy, rocket science, etc.

I specialized in the Mathematical Physics track, with a strong focus on Astronomy. This resulted in a master thesis about the Nuker Model (an analytical way to derive important properties of galaxy characteristics).

As part of my master's program at the University of Ghent I went on Erasmus exchange to the University of Uppsala in Sweden. Here I focused on Astronomy.

Volunteering work

Stamily (2018-now)

In 2018 I founded a worldwide organization (www.stamily.org) for people who stutter/stammer to share their stories, build a community and feel less lonely with their stutter/stammer. We have now around 50 members spread out all over the world and organize meet-ups in Europe.

Asbronomers (2018-2020)

Together with a Spanish friend from my studies, I ran a science website from 2018 to 2020. We wrote about the space industry and astronomy.

I was a Member of the committee of education, where I tried with fellow members to make life in Utrecht better for students.
